Honours in French
Honours entry
The prerequisites for entry to fourth year Honours in French studies are:
- Completion of all the requirements for the BA
- Completion of a major in French
- An average grade of H2B or higher over the 2nd/3rd year subjects within the major.
Students whising to take pure honours in French are strongly advised to enrol in additional French subjects at second/third year.
Honours requirements 2007
Pure Honours
Students undertaking pure honours in French must complete:
- 2 Compulsory subjects (25%)
- 116-461 French IV: Honours Language I (12.5 points)
- 116-471 French IV: Honours Language II (12.5 points)
- 3 single-semester French Honours electives (37.5%)
- Semester 1 2006
- 116-415 The Sociolinguistics of French (12.5 points)
- 116-449 Special Research Subject A (12.5 points)
- Semester 2 2006
- 116-449 Special Research Subject A (12.5 points)
- 116-451 Themes in Contemporary Literature (12.5 points)
- 116-456 Espaces Francophones
- Semester 1 2006
- A Thesis of 12,000 words (37.5 %)

Combined Honours
Students undertaking combined Honours in French and another area of study must complete:
Option 1
- 2 Compulsory subjects (25%)
- 116-461 French IV: Honours Language I (12.5 points)
- 116-471 French IV: Honours Language II (12.5 points)
- 3 single-semester Honours electives (37.5%)
in the combined area of study (37.5 points) - A Thesis of 12,000 words (37.5 %)

Option 2
